Biography

Olaedo Ibe (Olaedo, meaning gold in the Nigerian Igbo language) is a British Nigerian Singer, Songwriter & Composer.

Her distinctive soulful sound, profound lyrics and inspirational message is a combined force to be reckoned with. Her influences range from Cece Winans to Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson to Deniece Williams, Mary Mary to Jill Scott. From an early age, Olaedo started singing at her father’s church, weddings and school and stage plays. Simultaneously, developing her song writing ability by reading psalms, listening to Motown music, personal life experiences and worship. 

Although, born and bred in London; she also grew up in Nigeria (Lagos and Abuja), where she was introduced to a plethora of different types of music. Returning to the UK; at the age of 14 she shared the stage with Peobo Bryson at the Cadogen Hall. Encouraged by David Gest and former Manager of Roy Ayers/Deniece Williams, she began to pursue a career in music and attended sessions at Roundhouse in Camden for a year. Olaedo was a finalist at Fred Jerkins UK Talent Search and contestant on Time2Shine .

Olaedo was nominated for a MOBO and UMA in 2015, shortly after the release of her Debut EP "Shine like Gold" which featured her Debut single "Dust with Life", whose video was picked up by Yahoo Screen. In 2016 she was nominated for a Jump Music Awards for "Dust with Life" and a Premier Gospel award Nomination followed. Olaedo ministers at various youth events, colleges, churches. Her grace and beauty are coupled with brains as she achieved an MSc in Public Health. She is passionate about promoting health especially in childhood obesity, mental health, and creating awareness about the dangers of skin bleaching.

Her 2nd project “Grow to Glow LP” released in 2018 featured hit single ‘Lead Me (Olaedo’s Psalm 2)’ . Lead Me is a song about life’s choices and asking God to lead the way. Lead Me, the first single debuted at No 9 on the UK Christian Chart  and played as a continuous favorite on Britain’s leading Gospel Radio station, Premier Gospel simultaneously the music video played on TBN UK. She  showcased the single at the Pizza Express Jazz Club (Supporting act for Esther Farinde) and at the Karamel Club. She later on released ‘Fill US’ in 2017 a song for children about the fruits of the spirit and “Good Life’ in 2018 featuring Leke & Becca Folkes. Both singles were well received and reached No 2 on The UK Christian Chart in 2017 and 2018 respectively. She was nominated for 3 Premier Gospel Music Awards in 2018.

She currently creates Christian meditation videos and has released 2 singles Supernatural shift in 2020 & Manifest in 2021. She is the host for the IG live show#YourHealthMatters. Olaedo is currently engaged in public health campaigns & is creating material for her 3rd project.
